Silver Belle

September 1, 2016 Guest User

The white off-the-shoulder tops of summer are being tucked away until next year and the flannel shirts are being shaken out and paired with short and heavy fall skirts. It’s chilly and hazy while you drink your first cup of coffee, hot and dry when you run out to your car at lunch and rainy and cool on your commute home. We’ve got a pile of layers to pull on or that we’ve taken off in our passenger seats. But the accessories that are on everyone’s wrists, fingers and end tables during the transition from summer to fall are all rustic silver.

A chunky engraved cuff with bits of turquoise dresses up a dark rinse denim shirt and is made a bit more glamorous with a swipe of red lipstick. An animal head cuff with curling horns paired with a bracelet made to look like cut wood looks striking both with a plain white tee and a little black dress. Skinny rings with raw gems like labradorite or aquamarine can be worn stacked or one for every finger.

Go bold or go subtle in accessorizing your home in the same manner. A lamp with natural wood and hints of silver dresses up a neutrally hued study. A throw pillow with streaks of shining silver and gold pairs with an arm chair in fuchsia or add something fancy to a navy couch. Glam up your whole kitchen with a silver-tiled backsplash from counter to ceiling and your neighbors will never forget it.

In the Driver's Seat

August 25, 2016 Guest User

The smell of gasoline, the feel of buttery leather, gleaming metal, shining paint. Is there anything cooler? Alexander McQueen, Dean Martin and James Dean all embody the automotive enthusiast lifestyle and with it the effortless masculine style it projects.

A man’s answer to a woman’s little black dress, the cool leather and warm textiles of a wardrobe inspired by cars and those who love them will never get old. It always works and it never fails to give a little confidence boost, whether you need it or not. It doesn’t need to be thought too hard about because it’s so deeply engrained. It’s reminiscent of days spent playing with Matchbox cars, stacks of books providing a launching ramp for those cars to make impossible jumps from sofa arm to coffee table edge.

Dress the look up with a hint of Glen plaid or down with a racing striped sweater. Bring it in to your home with a vintage car seat inspired sofa or a carbon fiber tray to keep on your bar.

As autumn begins to creep in, the desire to sit poolside is replaced with an itch to drive almost too fast on empty roads with the windows down. Contact Marlena to get the look.
