Work That Body

January 5, 2017 Guest User

Whether you believe in New Year’s resolutions or not, the first week of January always feels like days of new opportunities after the madness of November and December. The holidays are behind us, along with all the parties, the guests, the snacks and sweets, the get-togethers, shopping and champagne. It’s time to hit the ground running and get back into our old routines. We’ve got to regroup, read the paper, email our bosses back, pay our bills and get back to the gym.

We at MDG know that there’s nothing more motivating for a fresh start than a fresh space. Maybe after the holidays, you’re realizing you don’t really need a second or third guest room and that a home gym is more fitting. Why not do your morning sun salutations in a converted carriage house? A revamped basement is the perfect place to crank your favorite 80’s playlist and hit your HIIT workout for the day.

No matter where you set up for your push-ups, MDG has got you covered.

Here are our favorite accessories for a home gym, or click here for a custom design.

We at MDG, along with so many of you, are always excited for a new year. 2017 in particular is highly anticipated we hear, but we won't get into that right now. We are looking ahead! Along that vein, Marlena has been pondering the interior design trends she can't wait to see more of this year. From geometric tile to mercury glass light fixtures to maybe even a combination of the two to create a dream bathroom, here are three trends we are excited to see when the ball drops.

Hexagon or geometric tile can instantly update a kitchen or a bathroom. The fresh break away from subway or penny tile is very welcome, especially in the deep blues, stark whites and eclectic black and white shown here. Match the grout to the tile for a clean-looking surface or use a contrasting or even colored grout to be bold and daring.

Next we have mercury glass light fixtures. One part Marie Antoinette and one part mermaid, these pendant lights and table lamps have just enough sheen without too much shine to mix well with your interiors all year round.

FInally, we have been seeing clients nix the shower door and opt for an open design. Tile top to bottom except for a sexy coastal version with a wooden plank floor is chic and spa-like. Close your eyes and it's like you're standing in the rain. The days of bumping your shoulder on cold glass and getting gross wet shower curtain stuck to your legs are long gone.

We can't wait to see what you're thinking for your home in 2017. Click here to get a head start!
