A Dorm with a View

August 11, 2016 Guest User

The light has changed just enough that we know fall is right around the corner. For some, school has started but no matter when the first day is, one of the most satisfying parts is supplies shopping. The smell of pens and highlighters, folders and loose leaf—ahh, hasn’t there been a scented candle called School Supplies made yet? If there were going to be something even more exciting it would be dorm room shopping.

There’s a very specific thrill to be had with the spotting of the Twin-XL label on the outside of your new favorite striped sheets. Who knew one could get so excited about bed risers that double as electrical outlets? Should your shower caddy match your loofah or your bath towel? How many kinds of mustard will fit in a mini fridge? Does your new roommate even like mustard?

Whether you overthink it or not, college is a fresh start. It’s probably the first time you’ve got a space that’s all your own (or half of a space) to decorate and personalize. It’s where you’ll sleep, eat at two in the morning, pull an all-nighter to finish your final paper and meet some of your lifetime best friends. It’s also where you’ll realize that you have too many shoes, not enough light bulbs, and you don’t actually know how to brew a cup of coffee.

No matter what, with the right mix of new goodies and reminders of home, you can make your dorm your favorite spot on campus.
