Bed Ready

We're smack in the middle of that totally discombobulating time of year where it still feels like summertime when we go to bed and we're awoken by a crisp breeze that cools our cheeks. Rather than the sun softly falling across our eyelids and nudging us awake, it is our alarm clocks that are jolting us from slumber. We sit up, blinking in the darkness for a moment before the September chill urges us to sink back down into our sheets while we decide to hit snooze once or twice.

Fall brings with it the opportunity to really experiment with layers, in fashion as well as in bedding. And this year, we are over the plain white match-y sheets and duvet. We want patterned sheets, and homey cozy quilts, and yummy knit throw blankets. We are adding and subtracting layers as we see fit, worrying less about matching throw pillows with bed skirts and focusing on the more important things in life, like whether we want coffee or hot chocolate in bed this morning.

Below, you'll find some of our favorites, free to mix and match any which way.

Coffee Spot

October 19, 2017 Guest User

We at MDG are all about our designated sit and sip stations in our homes, and we beg you to name one better than a breakfast nook. OK, sure, porches are pretty great, too. As are cozy dining rooms. And bathtubs, fine, there isn't a bad one but let's talk about breakfast nooks for a while.

Snuggle up and drink coffee by the window, a fluffy blanket on your lap and you're picking crumbs of almond biscotti out of the cable knit. Maybe the window is cracked and the breeze that makes you think of Honeycrisp apples rustles the pages of a magazine. Lazy Sunday sun streams through the curtains across mismatched coffee cups and plates of toast.

From day to night, flickering candles sparkle in glasses of pinot noir while Brie is munched and anything but politics is discussed. A quirky base holds the flower he brought over hours before.

Whether you're setting up for a weekend morning retreat with a full coffee pot, a marathon homemade brunch session with your best friend, or an intimate date spot, we hope you enjoy some of our favorite things for the perfect breakfast nook.
