Cubs or Indians?

October 27, 2016 Guest User

The World Series is upon us once again and we are a country divided: Cubs or Indians? Are we combing through Yelp for the best deep dish pizza restaurants with the most TVs or are we cooking up enough pierogies to feed the block? Are we hoping the Indians ride the winning coattails of Cleveland Cavaliers of last spring or do we want this guy’s 1993 yearbook inscription to prove prophetic?

Which team do you buy some peanuts and Cracker Jacks for? If the Cubs are your game, the team who hasn’t been to the World Series in over 70 years, perhaps you’ll toss a royal blue blanket onto your bed and do some painting in your team colors. If you’re thinking about the days of smelling the sweet leather of your baseball glove, why not spring for a leather dresser instead?

It hasn’t been as long for the Indians as it has been for the Cubs (though still a hot minute) but if it’s Cleveland who will take you out to the ball game, maybe deck your bed with some denim accent pillows. A delicious cream colored throw blanket with a deep navy stripe is as fresh as a game day baseball. If the smooth wood of your little league baseball bat makes you wax nostalgic, add a wooden bed frame to your room.

Whether you bat for Chicago or Cleveland, contact Marlena here to get these looks.

Jackie or Marilyn?

October 6, 2016 Guest User

We love to wear black. We wear black when we want to stand out, when we want to blend in, when we want to feel sexy and when we want to feel fierce. We wear it for Thanksgiving dinner, or to class or on a Tuesday. We love black jeans, black boots, black nail polish, black blazers, and oh!—the little black dress. There is the perfect one for everyone and anyone, or anyone you choose to be for the day.

It’s like that episode of Mad Men where the ad campaign asked if women believed they were a Jackie or a Marilyn. Or maybe now we can ask, are we Karlie Kloss or Kim Kardashian? Claire Dunphy or Gloria Delgado-Pritchett? Or even the Wicked Witch of the West or Glinda? Will you choose prim and elegant or va-va-voom and vampy? Will you dress with a crisp white collar and patent leather flats or will you choose a plunging neckline and a spritz of No 5?

We don’t need to stop with our wardrobes either. A striking monogram on bed pillows and a rich black cashmere blanket versus a lush velvet covered headboard framed by glittering mini chandeliers. Bold, preppy stripes and buttery leather or plush faux fur and sparkling sequins. We can pick either one or anyone. And let’s not forget the days where we choose the crisp white collar and a spritz of No 5.

Ask Marlena to help make you a Jackie or a Marilyn here.
