Fur or Faux?

November 3, 2016 Guest User

We at MDG are of the party that faux fur is winter’s answer to the seersuckers of summer. The weather turns, it’s darker longer, and we want to channel our inner Anna Karenina with furs in all shapes and sizes. Fur pairs with deep red lipstick or with ripped denim. It can accessorize a purse or add an extra layer of glam to a velvet couch. It dresses up a night out or plays with our sense of humor in a bright neon hue.

Faux fur doesn’t have to be treated like a precious textile. As a result, it becomes a versatile accent for an outfit or home. An ottoman covered in a neutral fur is the perfect place to rest bare feet. A quirky striped throw blanket is an essential for a seat out on a sunset porch. Even a hammered copper chair is warmed by a fur cushion.

We pull a fur-covered lapel high up on our necks for a classic romantic look. It lines the hood of a sporty parka for the commute to work. A soft knit hat or sweater is trimmed in a complementary color and you’re ready for an après ski cocktail. A burgundy clutch doubles as a hand warmer and looks fierce with leather pants.

If you’re ready to get creative with faux fur, Marlena is here to help. Click here to find out her favorite ways to use fur.

Cubs or Indians?

October 27, 2016 Guest User

The World Series is upon us once again and we are a country divided: Cubs or Indians? Are we combing through Yelp for the best deep dish pizza restaurants with the most TVs or are we cooking up enough pierogies to feed the block? Are we hoping the Indians ride the winning coattails of Cleveland Cavaliers of last spring or do we want this guy’s 1993 yearbook inscription to prove prophetic?

Which team do you buy some peanuts and Cracker Jacks for? If the Cubs are your game, the team who hasn’t been to the World Series in over 70 years, perhaps you’ll toss a royal blue blanket onto your bed and do some painting in your team colors. If you’re thinking about the days of smelling the sweet leather of your baseball glove, why not spring for a leather dresser instead?

It hasn’t been as long for the Indians as it has been for the Cubs (though still a hot minute) but if it’s Cleveland who will take you out to the ball game, maybe deck your bed with some denim accent pillows. A delicious cream colored throw blanket with a deep navy stripe is as fresh as a game day baseball. If the smooth wood of your little league baseball bat makes you wax nostalgic, add a wooden bed frame to your room.

Whether you bat for Chicago or Cleveland, contact Marlena here to get these looks.
